Terms of Service
The plain-language terms that apply when you bring a device in for repair, or use this website. Last updated August 2026.
Repair services
Mister Ed’s Fix It Shoppe (“the shop,” “Ed,” “we”) repairs consumer electronics — TVs, computers and laptops, cell phones, video game consoles, VCRs and DVD players, and related devices — and offers data recovery and video/analog media transfer. Bringing in a device for diagnosis or repair, or requesting a transfer, means you agree to these terms.
Every device is diagnosed before any repair work begins. You’ll be told honestly what’s wrong and whether a repair is worth it before you’re committed to anything. Verbal or written estimates given before a repair are based on the diagnosis at hand; if additional problems are found once work is underway, you’ll be contacted before any extra work is done.
Your data
You’re responsible for backing up any data, files, photos, or accounts on a device before bringing it in for repair. Repairs, part swaps, and diagnostics can occasionally result in data loss, and while care is taken with every device on the bench, the shop is not liable for data lost during the course of a repair unless the loss results from gross negligence.
Data recovery and video/analog transfer services are handled with care, but recovery success can’t be guaranteed for every drive or tape — some media is too damaged or degraded to fully recover. You’ll be given an honest read on the odds before any recovery work, and before any charge, happens. See the Privacy Policy for how device data is handled during a repair.
Payment & pricing
Pricing is discussed and agreed to before repair work begins, based on the diagnosis and the parts required. Payment is due at pickup unless other arrangements are made in advance. Prices quoted verbally or in an estimate are good-faith estimates and may change if the diagnosis changes once a device is opened up.
Warranty on repairs
Repairs are backed by a reasonable workmanship warranty covering the specific repair performed — ask at time of service for how long that covers your repair. This warranty does not cover unrelated faults, new damage after the device leaves the shop, or issues caused by how the device is used afterward. Parts carry whatever warranty the manufacturer or supplier provides, passed along to you as applicable. Devices with pre-existing damage, prior unauthorized repairs, or corrosion may not be fully repairable, and that will be discussed honestly before any work starts.
Picking up your device
Please pick up repaired or diagnosed devices in a reasonably timely manner. A device left at the shop for an extended period without contact from its owner — after reasonable attempts are made to reach you using the contact information you provided — may be treated as abandoned property, consistent with Maryland law. If you know you’ll need extra time, just call or email and let us know.
Limitation of liability
Devices are accepted for repair at the owner’s risk with respect to any pre-existing conditions. Beyond the cost of the repair itself, the shop is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from a repair, a diagnosis, or a device’s condition before or after service, except where such liability cannot be limited under Maryland law.
Using this website
The content on this website — text, photos, and design — belongs to Mister Ed’s Fix It Shoppe unless otherwise noted, and is provided for informational purposes about the shop’s services. It’s provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, and shouldn’t be treated as a binding quote for any specific repair — actual pricing is confirmed directly with the shop.
Governing law & changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland. They may be updated from time to time as the shop’s services or policies change; the version posted here is the current one. Questions about these terms are always welcome — get in touch.
This page is a general policy statement for a small local repair shop and isn’t a substitute for legal advice. If you have a question about a specific repair, the fastest answer is to just ask.
